David Humphrey, a food pantry director, said the local Burger King staff approached his group with the idea to raise money.

“We're very thankful to the management of Burger King for initiating such a generous program to help us provide for Yorktown residents who depend on our assistance,” Humphrey said. “The spirit of giving during the holiday season is always heartwarming, but a program like this can help fund our efforts well into the new year.”

Burger King will donate 20 percent of its sales from customers who present an appropriate flyer when ordering between 4-8 p.m. Friday, according to the food pantry.

“So if you're in the mood for a Whopper or you're craving French fries, please consider printing the … flyer and bringing it to Burger King on Friday evening,” Humphrey said. “Every purchase from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. will help us help Yorktowners in need.”

Yorktown Community Help, 1974 Commerce St., operates the oldest food pantry in the town and serves only Yorktown residents, according to Humphrey.
